Ever find yourself accepting the thanks of colleagues or<br \/>\ncommunity members who loved their Caf\u00e9 experience, one you hosted? <\/span><\/p>\n<p>These<br \/>\nemotional responses and the hope for the future they inspire are the<br \/>\nresult of lots of volunteer efforts and contributions of funds from<br \/>\nDavid and Juanita. Now it&#8217;s time that we, the larger World Caf\u00e9<br \/>\ncommunity, step in to further nurture this work and generate the funds<br \/>\nnecessary to keep the Caf\u00e9 phenomenon alive and growing. <\/p>\n<p>This<br \/>\nmeans each of us should consider making the World Caf\u00e9 Community<br \/>\nFoundation one of the recipients of our charitable donations. We should<br \/>\napproach clients, employers, community groups who benefit from the<br \/>\nWorld Caf\u00e9 process and encourage them to make donations. It&#8217;s time. <\/p>\n<p>We<br \/>\ncan do this in a way that keeps us free from giving up our capacity to<br \/>\nevolve the process naturally, without constraints from any larger<br \/>\ninstitutions. We can nurture the whole living process by letting it be<br \/>\nknown that the World Cafe Community Foundation was established to<br \/>\nensure that we make the process and principles available to the growing<br \/>\nnumber of people who want to experience and host World Caf\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>I<br \/>\nlike to think of this process as letting people know there is a need &#8212;<br \/>\ngiving them that information, explaining the need and then letting them<br \/>\ndecide upon how much and in what way they want to give back.<\/p>\n<p>Often<br \/>\npeople don&#8217;t realize that in order to maintain a web site, develop<br \/>\nmaterials, rent spaces, buy supplies, travel to conferences, the Caf\u00e9<br \/>\ncommunity needs to spend money.
