\"World-in-our-hands\"<\/a> In the process of our ongoing exploration of the unique contribution of
\nthe World Caf\u00e9 and the World Caf\u00e9 Community Foundation during these
\ntimes of challenge and transformation, several things are becoming
\nclearer to us. Perhaps most importantly, we've reaffirmed our deep and
\nenduring commitment to ensuring that the core ideas, principles, and
\nprocess of the World Caf\u00e9 remain freely available to all.<\/p>\n

In
\nrecommitting to the "open source" approach and grass-roots perspective
\nthat has led the World Caf\u00e9 into the vibrant, dynamic global force that
\nit is today, we are also reaffirming our faith in the global community
\nof World Caf\u00e9 friends and practitioners to serve as stewards for its
\nongoing development and evolution in increasingly diverse, creative,
\nand powerful ways. <\/p>\n

One expression of this is our recent
\ndecision to stop singling out specific individuals as "regional
\nstewards" on the website. Instead, we encourage all friends and
\npractitioners to think of themselves as active stewards of the World
\nCaf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

We invite each of you who cares about the World Caf\u00e9 to
\nstep forward to help nurture the areas and activities you feel
\npassionately about — to serve as an "attractor" and resource for
\nothers who may want to join in hosting conversations that matter. <\/p>\n

For
\nsome, this may be holding World Caf\u00e9 events in your town or city,
\nhosting conversations about the questions that matter most locally. It
\nmay mean mentoring new World Caf\u00e9 hosts, telling people you meet about
\nthe transformative power of conversation, or actively sharing
\ninnovative practices in the online community forum. <\/p>\n

For many,
\nit will mean supporting the the World Caf\u00e9 Community Foundation by
\n"tithing" 10% or more when you are earning money from the World Caf\u00e9
\n(as a growing number of practitioners are starting to do), as well as
\nsharing your stories so others can learn from them, and perhaps most
\nimportantly, it means listening to the spirit of the World Caf\u00e9 and
\nworking in ways true to her (we're pretty sure it's a "her")
\nprinciples. <\/p>\n

Stepping up to World Caf\u00e9 stewardship will look different to different people. What might stewardship mean to you?<\/span><\/p>\n

We're
\nvery excited about this change, and in the next month or two will be
\nmoving to a new online community platform that will give us a better
\nway to steward this network together. We'll share more about the new
\nplatform in the next month or two, but rest assured it will be much
\nsimpler to use and have the features we need to stay in touch and grow
